2 month check-up

That's right, our lil' pumpkin is TWO MONTHS OLD already.  She just had her 2-month check-up on Tuesday.  Mommy had to take her by herself (which I was dreading because she had to get shots) because Daddy was busy helping clean up in Vinton from the bad storm that went through there.  Her appointment went fantastic, and I was once again told by the nurse that my baby is PERFECT (tell me something I don't already know- lol; )  Malea just barely broke the 11 pound mark at her appointment, and is now 22 and 1/4 inches long!  That puts her right in the 50th percentile for both height and weight.  Way to go peanut!!  She was all smiles in the doctors office (until those dreaded shots).  I held both of her hands and kissed her cheeks, but she still squealed like a stuck pig when the nurse gave her all of her shots.  After all of the tears, as soon as I picked her up and gave her a squeeze, she calmed right down.  She wasn't fussy really yesterday from the shots, and she slept great last night.  I fed her at 8:30, all 3 of us were in bed by 9:30, and she didn't wake up for a bottle until 3 am!  We still keep her in our room in the pack-n-play right next to our bed... her bedroom is just across the hall from our room, but I am not ready to part with her sleeping so close to me yet.  It's so nice to lay in bed and be able to reach over the side of the pack-n-play to rub her back, hear her breathing, and watch her sleep.  I know she will do great when we move her to her crib, but from a selfish standpoint, Mommy is not quite ready for that step!
Over the past 2 months, Malea has changed in many ways, and discovered so many new things.  She is so observant... she loves staring at lights (especially our trey ceiling light in the living room), her eyes now follow us instead of just staring off into space, and she loves the mobile on her swing (as you can see in this picture: )
She is so good at holding her head up (although she has always been pretty good at that), and her legs are so strong.  She loves to stand up on our laps while we hold her hands.  Malea loves to squeeze her lovies (her blanket stuffed animal thingies) - in fact this morning when I picked her up out of her bed, she was holding on to her lovie so tight she picked it right up with her.   She has 2... one she keeps at home, and one she takes on the go because she doesn't like leaving home without a lovie!!  Here is a picture of her squeezing her lovie like she so often does.... too cute: )

Malea loves to suck on her hand, fist, fingers, arm, or whatever possible.  Here is a picture of her sucking on her arm: )

One of my favorite things is her SMILE.  What an awesome feeling when she looks up at me and gets a huge smile on her face.  Here is a video I got of her in her jammies this morning when she was smiling for mama.  Keep your speakers on mute so you don't have to listen to me: )
Malea got to meet one of my best friends, Michelle, the other day.  She LOVED Michelle, as you can see in the pictures of Malea smiling at her.  It was so great getting to see Michelle- she is a teacher over in China so I don't get to see her very often, but HOPEFULLY she'll be coming back to the states for good sooner than later; )

A few days ago I thought I would take Malea outside and take a few pictures of her in one of her many Hawkeye outfits.  Usually she is very cooperative and photogenic (maybe its because she sleeps through a lot of our "photo sessions" : ), but this effort was far from stellar.  This photo about sums up how Malea felt about Mommy taking more pictures of her... check out that face... she wanted no part of picture taking that day!
Since she wasn't wanting her picture taken, I took her back inside... within about 30 seconds, this is what happened... she passed out!  No wonder she didn't want her picture taken... she was just tired!
Tonight I met 2 of my good friends from work, Menzea and Jami, for dinner at Carlos O' Kelly's.  It was so great catching up with them since I've been away from work for over 9 weeks.  Our dinner was far from uneventful... first, Malea spit up all down Jami's back (sorry girl!: ), then I picked her up out of her carseat and got poop all over my arm.  She just ran out of newborn diapers this morning, so I had to put her in a size 1 since that is all I had at home.  Well, the 1's are still huge on her, giving the poo every opportunity to find an escape route- hah!  Thank goodness I had the "wee-guard" in the carseat this time making cleanup a breeze, and with a little help from Menzea fishing all the necessities out of the diaper bag, we were back to golden in no time: )

So glad her 2 month check up went well. I was more nervous for that appointment than I have for any other doctor's appointment in my life, I think! :) I hated that Hudson had to get shots... ah well.. :)
I'd love to take pictures sometime, just for fun. It's so fun capturing these moments as they change so fast! :)
