Malea hopes you all had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! It was the Sunday before Halloween, late afternoon, and I said to Joel "Crap we didn't get Malea a pumpkin for her first Halloween!!" He didn't seem to think it was a big deal, but being the great hubby he is, we spontaneously got in the car, drove to the nearest pumpkin patch, picked her out a pumpkin, and we were back home in no time. I told him my idea thinking he would tell me I was crazy, but instead he grabbed a knife and hopped right to it! Before long, he had Malea's first pumpkin all ready to go! And let me tell ya, our "little pumpkin" is SUCH A ROCKSTAR for letting mama put her in a pumpkin! I was pretty sure she would scream the moment we put her in there, but it actually cracked her up as much as it did us: ) Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen?!
You are "BOOtiful" indeed baby girl!!!
Although we didn't take Malea trick-or-treating this year, we still got her all decked out in her costume. Well this little piggy didn't go to market, and this little piggy didn't stay home, but this little piggy sure looked as cute as can be: )
A few adorable things Malea is doing lately....
The past few weeks she has turned into a little rolling bean! You seriously lay her on one end of the room, and minutes later, she is completely up against the wall on the opposite end of the room. She rolls and rolls and rolls.... then laughs.... then rolls and rolls and rolls some moreJ She is so QUICK too! She also likes to “pivot”... she lays on her belly and maneuvers herself in circles. She has even started pushing herself backwards! Sort of a backwards belly crawl: )
As you may know, my dad has always called Malea “Squeak” (when he isn’t calling her “little M”: ) because she was always making cute little squeak noises. Well, as of late, I think I will rename her “Squeal” instead because man does she squeal! And it doesn’t matter if she is happy, sad, mad, or what have you, the girl is always squealing! It is the shrillest squeal ever. Her happy squeal is non-stop.... one squeal after another. And the only difference between her happy squeal and sad squeal is an occasional cry and a pouty face.
So Malea loves to pound with her left hand. I’m not making any predictions, but let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if she is a lefty. First we thought she was waving... she would get that left arm a waving just as hard and fast as she could..... we would wave at her, then she would do that back. Then we realized she merely loves to have that arm a movin!!! From there she started to pound on things... like a drummer. If she’s laying on her belly, she pounds the floor. If she’s sitting in her highchair, she pounds the tray. You get my drift. Then I thought she was going to have some mad volleyball skills because she would “spike” her little bird that hangs down from her car seat handle so hard.... then I quickly remembered it’s just because she likes to have that arm going: ) Her latest is when I am burping her, she pats me on the back. It is so darn cute. I really need to try and get that on video because I’m sure that stage will pass as quickly as it started.
Tomorrow my baby girl will be 6 months old. Can you believe that?! I know I can’t! I wanted to celebrate her half birthday with a nice dinner, and half a cake (even though she can’t eat it), and maybe a new outfit for the peanut. But her daddy just doesn’t get it! Apparently he doesn’t think that his daughter’s half birthday constitutes getting out of work early... darn harvest anyway putting the kabosh to Malea’s birthday celebration! Haha!!
Oh and by the way, does any other mother of a young baby hate daylight savings time?! Grrr....

She is getting so big! :) I can't wait to see her at Thanksgiving; it will be fun to see how much she's changed!
Oh, and AMEN to the Daylight Savings hatred! Boo... :/
