Trevor Update

We have been so busy with the house that I haven't taken the time to post an update on Trevor (shame on me).  I can't believe he is already 3 1/2 weeks old!!  He has had a few ups and downs, but overall he is doing great!  The pictures below are from Saturday, October 10th.  I went to visit him with Shane when I was in Iowa City for the Michigan game.  What a pumpkin!  He is such a precious little guy!  I can't wait to go visit him again!!!
I'm not good at "official" updates (in doctor's terms and such), and I certainly don't understand everything, but I will summarize his past few weeks the best I can.  Trevor was born at 3 lbs, 3 oz, and was suprisingly healthy considering how early he was.  We were so glad he only had to be on a ventilator for a few days, and then on a cpap.  But then the following week he got staph infection (due to the picc line they put in his foot from what I understand), and mostly because of this, he dropped down to 1 lb, 14 oz at one point.  They put him on an antibiotic to help clear that up, and it sounds like it did the trick.  They had to put him back on the ventilator for 2 or 3 days while he battled that infection, but he has since been taken back off of the vent and the cpap and is now just on oxygen through his nose!!!
Some great news to report is that the hole they were concerned about in his heart closed on it's own!!!!!!  What awesome news to hear!!!!!!  We are all so happy about this, and that is living proof just how powerful prayer can be!  So thanks to all of you for your prayers for Trevor!
He had a good streak after that without any breathing spells (I think he went about 5 days without one if I remember right!), but then he had another set-back.... he became severely anemic, and started to have a lot of breathing spells again.  The poor little guy had to have a blood transfusion to correct this: (  Now to me this sounds really scary, but Shane assured me that "he would be fine", and that he needed it to help him continue to improve.  The procedure went very well, and it really helped his coloring, and his breathing.  He was retaining fluid in his legs and feet recently, but I haven't heard if that is now better, or still a concern.  I forget what day it was, but they moved him to an incubator (I think it's actually called something else, but I can't remember what).  So that was a big step up for him!  He even gets to wear onesies now!  I think the goal now is for him to start regulating his body temperature on his own, then his next move will be to a crib!  Yahoo!!!  Is that awesome or what!?  They removed the picc line from his foot, he is handling his feedings very well, and is doing great breathing-wise lately too!  I hope that he keeps it up, and doesn't have any more set-backs.  Joel and I are so anxious to get to see him again!  That's about all I know for now.  Keep it up Trev!
